From Graphs to Gratitude in 2024

It’s that time of year again—the leaves are crunching, the pies are baking, and the gratitude is flowing like edges on a fully connected graph.

As we gather ‘round the (metaphorical) table, we want to take a moment to reflect on what we’re super thankful for this year. Spoiler alert: It’s YOU. But more on that in a minute—first, let’s rewind and look at everything we’ve accomplished together in 2024.

Discord Growth: 500+ Members Strong!

This year, our Discord server hit a major milestone— over 500 members and counting! It’s become a buzzing hub for all things graphs, from sharing cool use cases to asking thoughtful questions, and fostering meaningful discussions about graph technologies.

But the growth doesn’t stop there. Our entire GraphGeeks community has expanded to over 1,200 members! Whether you’re active on Discord, LinkedIn, YouTube or our mailing list, you’re part of a powerful network of graph enthusiasts making meaningful connections every day.

Rebranding: Meet Gigi and Our Fresh New Look!

GraphGeeks unveiled an exciting new brand refresh! Say hello to Gigi the Octopus, our new mascot and the face of GraphGeeks. She’s quirky, smart, and loves a good graph pun (just like us).

Our rebranding isn’t just about a new look—it’s about reaffirming who we are:

  • A global, community-driven space that connects graph enthusiasts from all levels of experience.

  • A vendor-neutral hub that encourages exploring cutting-edge research and diverse technologies.

  • A fun and respectful environment, where we enjoy common interests and everyone feels valued.

Whether you’re a seasoned graph expert or just starting your journey, there’s a place for you here at GraphGeeks. Gigi is thrilled to guide you through it all!

Hosted Talks: A Big Thanks to Our Experts

We kicked off our podcast and talks in 2024! These regular sessions brought hundreds of you together to learn, share, and brainstorm new ways to apply graph technologies to tackle real-world challenges.

A huge thank-you to the experts and GraphGeeks who partnered with us to make these events happen. Your insights, presentations, and willingness to share your knowledge have been nothing short of inspiring.

We’ve also loved seeing how engaged our members are—your thoughtful questions and discussions remind us just how curious and creative this community can be.

The Awesome Graph Universe: A Community-Driven Resource

This year, we also launched our Awesome Graph Universe GitHub Repo, a space dedicated to collecting and sharing the best graph-related resources out there.

From graph databases to analytics and machine learning, this growing collection includes tools, libraries, and applications. We’re thrilled to see how this repo is fast becoming a hub for anyone looking to dive deeper into the world of graph technology.

What makes this initiative special? It’s completely community-driven! We’re grateful for the amazing contributions from our members—your insights and additions have made a rich collection for anyone interested in graphs.

Town Hall: Feedback and Direction

We hosted our first community town hall this fall! The community expressed a strong desire to increase the ways we connect and work on projects together. We also discussed general operations and received support for pursuing partners and sponsors.

We appreciate the fresh ideas and thoughtful feedback which is helping shape our focus for 2025. More on that to come!

Pass the Gratitude (and the Cranberry Sauce)

As you celebrate Thanksgiving, whether it’s with friends, family, or your favorite dataset, remember that you’re an essential node in our network. Thanks for being part of this amazing journey.

Here’s to graphs, gratitude, and a graph-tastic year ahead!

Happy Thanksgiving, GraphGeeks!
